Reseach:

Two important observations regarding the evolution of sex chromosomes in Drosophila are the excess of genes retroposed from X chromosome to autosomes and the paucity of male biased genes in the X chromosome. A possible explanation for such observations is X chromosome inactivation during meiosis in the male. The main interest of my post-doctoral research is to investigate the male germline X-inactivation in Drosophila melanogaster by monitoring X-linked gene expression during developmental phases of spermatogenesis.
