News and Events

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Sliman Bensmaia, a new assistant professor in the department. Dr. Bensmaia did his graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and was a post-doctoral fellow at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Bensmaia studies how the brain processes information about stimuli impinging upon the skin and about the position of the body in space. He studies perception in human and non-human primates using a variety of behavioral, neurophysiological and computational techniques. In collaboration with scientists all over the worlds, Dr. Bensmaia is also working towards incorporating sensory feedback in upper-limb neuroprostheses.
