Welcome
The Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy
- OBA - began as an Anatomy Department but has always considered
Anatomy in the context of Evolution, Development and Behavior. The
integrated context is not only a grand strategy to teach Medical
Students, but it is also an ideal way to approach the wonders of
Biology. OBA faculty members pride themselves as Integrative Biologists.
Our Paleontologists hunt fossils as well as developmentally regulated
genes. Our Developmental Biologists, Paleontologists and Neurobiologists
travel the world to study unique organisms looking for novel insights
into the most fundamental questions in Biology. How did limbs develop?
How did segmentation or the nervous system evolve? How are behaviors
encoded and decoded by the brain? OBA maintains its bridge between
Biology and Medicine: You will find OBA faculty that apply their
biological insights to help patients. I invite you to visit our
website and learn more about the “OBA-way”
to study Biology.
